Added a blog section to the site.  I need to sort out the templates a bit as things are not looking so good.

The system is not that good but I prefer to spend my time working on IpBike than trying to set up an alternative. It is at least good at keeping the spam away.

It is advisable to 'copy' before you try and post as the captcha stuff is a bit to agresive and the back buttone is not working for everyone.  You can at least then paste and have another go.

Garmin recently announced the Tempe ANT+ temperature sensor.

Do you think it will be possible to make IpSensorMan support this sensor in the near or further future?

Thanks a lot in advance!

There is some demand for this as this is the 3rd request I have had. I did have a look at getting a sensor to play with last week and was looking at a 3 week delay off the Garmin site they do not look to of really made it to the UK yet. The ANT+ profile was also still only beta when I looked but it may be released with the at the ANT conference in a week are twos time.

I would like to add basic real time support as tempreture is the one feature my old home made bike computer had that I don't have with IpBike. I will need to be able to get hold of a sensor and have the time to do the work.

It will have to be after the customisable user diaply work as that will be needed to make any new data visable.

OK version 1.2.4 Due on 31/12/12 will have support for the ANT+ Environment prifile added which is what is used by the Garmin Tempe.

You can display the live Temperature and the average Min and Max Temperatures. Average min and max are also available post ride.

I don't currently log the temperature every second but my well add this.

Let me know how you get on. my Tempe has still not arived so all the coding has been against the simulator.

Well, actually I was waiting for an app that supports the Tempe. I think IpBike is the first, which is great! Even Garmin itself doesn't seem to care about their temperature sensor. They could easily add support in their Garmin Fitt app, and with a firmware update maybe even in their sportswatches (but I think we won't see this happening in the near future).

Anyway, I'm strongly considering of buying a Tempe, so the moment I have it, I'm definitely giving some feedback.

Edit: ordered myself a New Years present, so now I'm waiting for my Garmin Tempe to arrive in a couple of days ;-)

Mine aparently shipped yesterday so hopefully by the weekend it will turn up. Price wise it's nice and reasonable. I looked at the footpod prices but they all seemed way too much so I have not ordered on. just hope the simulators doing a good job for it.

Hello Ifor,

Yes, the price of the Tempe is quite reasonable (it would be even better if Garmin integrated a pressure sensor ;-) ).

And indeed, by contrast: the Garmin footpod is pretty darn expensive. I think the least expensive alternatives are the Geonaute and the Adidas footpods (but afaik the latter one is only sold in a package with a dongle for Iphone or PC).

I have the Geonaute version: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/on-miles-pod-accelerometer-id_8199666.html
Normally, if weather permits, I'm going to test it today wit IpBike.

Tempe sensor arrived today (earlier than expected). Pairing in IpSensorMan went flawlessly, and temperature values (min/max/avg) are now displayed in 'post-ride' summary.

Ifor, thank you very much for making this happen!

Good to hear. Mine needs picking up from the post office.

I have found some quirks that will be fixed in the next update though. The main sensor display area is not setting itself corrctly when there is temperature.

Just installed the latest IpSensorMan update, and indeed, this seems to work better.

Maybe I'm asking a bit too much, but do you have plans for fuature versions of IpBike, to make is possible of actually logging temperture data (for instance, every 5 or 10 seconds), and make data available for export to Garmin .fit or .tcx format (so there's a temperature graph with import in Garmin Connect)?

Logging and plot added with 1.2.5 release.

Upload to Training Peaks had temperature added non of the other targets have an option for it.

.tcx has not support for temperature unless someone can point me at an extention for it.

.fit has support and I have added it in but wether the software reading the file in also supports it is questionable.
