Added a blog section to the site.  I need to sort out the templates a bit as things are not looking so good.

The system is not that good but I prefer to spend my time working on IpBike than trying to set up an alternative. It is at least good at keeping the spam away.

It is advisable to 'copy' before you try and post as the captcha stuff is a bit to agresive and the back buttone is not working for everyone.  You can at least then paste and have another go.

Apps » IpBike » Alternative use for volume buttons possible?

Hi,

for a few weeks I tried several apps to track my runs – so far ipbike is my favourite one. But there are some questions I got:

1 – Is it possible to force the app to stay in the portrait mode? I already tried to delete all landscape ones but that did not work out.

2 – Is there any chance to add the option 'skipping songs' with the volume buttons? That would be great!

Thanks a lot!

OK Portrait mode the app will swap from portrait to landscape while you are not active but once you go start trip it will stay in the orientation you have it in at that point so long as you have the app in the forground. If you go to the home screen or another app or switch the screen off then when coming back the app will stay in whatever orientation it is in when you come back. So the basic prinsiple is get it how you want it before going start trin and it should stay there.

I normaly have the phone in hand when running which is what made me put thuis feature in as otherwise it swaps all over the place.

If it's not working like this for you then get back to me.

Volume keys to skip tracks. The problem here is that there is no standard way for one app to tell another one to skip an audio track. I have found reference to a trick that may work by trying to insert a fake key press. It may not it will depend on the app you use to play music. What app do you use for music? I never listen to music on my phone so am very ignorant...

Thanks for your fast answer.

Portrait mode: I keep my phone in my hand while running, too. I didn't know the screen was locked once you start your trip. Maybe because I keep on switching the display on and off. Next time I'll just leave the display on for the whole run – that should work out for me!

Music: This is my first smartphone, got it one or two month ago – so I am not sure what audioplayer-app I'll use in the end. So far I tried the stock one ( that came with my Xperia Active ) and winamp. But I planned on trying a few more apps...
So far I just heared about that cyanogenmod to manipulate the volume buttons– but I'd prefer to keep the normal rooted ICS.
