The system is not that good but I prefer to spend my time working on IpBike than trying to set up an alternative. It is at least good at keeping the spam away.

It is advisable to 'copy' before you try and post as the captcha stuff is a bit to agresive and the back buttone is not working for everyone.  You can at least then paste and have another go.

Hi Ifor,

Thank you for the app, it is great!

No doubt that this is an unusual wish.. as a footbiker I wonder if it would be possible to record the cadence from _two_ foot pods, and include that data in the .CSV export?

Thanks,
Sven S.

W-balance. Is there a good write up on this somewhere? I would of thought that energy reserve was related to food intake as much as anything once your past a couple of hours?

Logging multiple sensors e.g. two footpods or two power meters or 2 muscle oxygen sensors. This is not really something IpBike is well set up to do. I have a fairly simple fixed format logging file structure where I just have space for one sensors values. the simple format means logging is efficient (less battery use) and reloading for plotting etc. is also nice and quick. I don't at this point plan on making any changes in this area, the usage cases are not really main stream enough. I already have a rather long to do list with more mainstream features.

An optional "Automatic Ride End Setting" would be great. So, when you forget to stop your ride and turn off the sensors, it will be done automatically after an inactivity of e.g. 10 minutes or so.

OK automatic ride end setting will be in the next release. Hopefully during this week. It's something I need myself as I sometimes forget to stop IpBike on my second test phone when commuting to work and run the battery nearly flat while in the office...

I think it's more to do with how short term energy stores in the muscle depletes when riding above CP and recovers when riding below it. The model was developed by Professor Skiba and the Golden Cheetah implementation is documented in a paper titles "Modeling the Expenditure and Reconstitution
of Work Capacity above Critical Power"

I recently pushed an update to the GC implementation to optimize the integration, it was integrating from zero at every timestep but now it just updates an accumulator so it's entirely possible to implement as a real time metric.

The only problem is you need three parameters, W' CP and tau. The Skiba paper estimates tau using the entire ride data so it's not possible to implement in real time. You'd have to ether have the user enter this parameter or estimate it from the preceeding several minutes of data (not sure how robust this would be)

Could you please:
1) Add the rider weight synchronization from Google Fit? I found that Strava is able to sync it.
2) Give possibility to avoid lock screen when a sensor (e.g. HR) is connected/active?

I need some clarification. What do you want me to do with the weight try and get it out of Google Fit? I only use it for the virtual power and the HR based calories calculations. It's a totally different usage case toi anything I do at the moment so complex to add for the little benefit it would give.

What do you mean by avoid lock screen? You can already set the screen power mode to Screen stay Bright?

When riding my indoor Monark testbike equiped with ANT+ cadence sensor and heart rate monitor, I wish that number of pedal revolutions would be displayed under Ride History ->Laps ->Lap.
This would make it possible to calculate cadence more acurate than when cadence is expressed as an integer. (cadence x force [kp]= power).

I have been working on the history display to add all the items that can be seen as items while riding but not on the history even though they should be. It was all scheduled for the UI but that's stalled so I have got on with it anyway. You will get pedal revs along with various other new stats. Potentially more useful I am making the actual average cadence a decimal value.

Add 1) Clear.
Add 2) Better to use example: I interrupt the current ride and the application is waiting for "Resume". The screen is off based on the device configuration and it is locked after certain minutes. When I want to continue in the trip I need to unlock device first and them press "Resume" button. I would help me if the application could prevent device lock when is waiting to resume trip, so I can switch on the screen by a device's button. Unlock device is complicated when I wear gloves in winter weather.

I've got another capability to extend import data functions. I use wifi or BT to connect internet as my SE Active has no SIM card. I would be nice if I could choose possibility to switch wifi/BT when upload starts (prepare data should give enough time to establish internet connection) and then IpBike could switch off wifi/BT (if they were off before).

Wifi will connect fully automatically and for BT there are same applications which will ensure the same.

BT will switch on and off as you describe for the sensors using the beta version of IpSensorman. For that I consider it a fairly essential feature.

For the wifi I can see your point but the way the security setup on Android works I would need an extra permission to enable this. As it's a fairly marginal feature that most people want see the obvious need for and only saves a couple of widget button presses when not actually riding it's not something I will consider. Apps that ask for permissions that are not needed for there core function are frowned upon. Although the latest Google apps seem to want everything...

Your wanting to leave the screen on during a pause is also not going to happen as it's exactly the opposite of what most users want including me. when I pause it's because of a long stop I want the screen to go off to save the power. You should not need to be pausing during a normal ride at lights etc. the active time and total time all work automatically no need for manual pauses. It's the equivalent of Gamins auto pause all the time, I just don't keep on beeping all the time...

If you want to do this sort of automated stuff then look at something like Tasker it's designed for automating things like this.

Suggestion:
App shortcut to start IpBike with a specific profile, as well as to turn off recording and sensors.

I start IpBike from a shortcut to a Llama event that first set a "profile" for the phone (a smartwatch). However I still manually have to start GPS and select a profile on the screen. So both more steps and screen interaction (screen is inconvenient especially in the winter).

I also added a long wishlist in the old thread, a few items have been implemented. I could edit and add the suggestions here.
IpBike is by far the best app I have found, it can still be improved...

Think it may have been raised before... but an option to define a power curve for a turbo trainer (4th order polynomial type) for speed vs power would be good to get any turbo you want covered in virtual power. Or some way of seeing how adjusting the existing variables effect a power curve to produce a best fit.

update... found your code post...not sure what the f in drag factor equates to but essentially it's just a process of trial and error with weight and rolling factor giving a straight line and speed ^3 x drag factor putting a curve on it..

better get excel working hard to match some curves up!...

Some comments on features. Some are easier, some require a lot of work. Since this is a mix of wishes, I enter it in the general thread.

This is a cleanup to a previous post in the old thread, and some updated suggestions.

I use IpBike mostly for running, with Omate TrueSmart watch (Ifor at least had one, he already knows some aspects). I have updated to KitKat and use a BTLE HR band. (want an external barometer too, possibly another IpBike extension)
I also export to .tcx and import to SportTracks for further analysis. (.fit cannot be used)
IpBike is excellent, you have the power of Android and a very competent app, it is the device that is the limit.

* When exporting in tcx format, I expect rest/warm-up/cool-down to be marked as Rest laps, but all have Active.
* Using Auto-workout to get autolap every km. If I use lap (would have expected next workout step to work here too), I expect the step to be completed, now I get another lap when the workout step ends.
* Why is there a lap and next workout step, one should be enough?
* If the GPS distance is unstable after starting, the "auto start distance" could automatically start a new trip.
* I would like to have lap/step summary configurable. I have autolap set to 1km (or manual 400m track), I only want to know the time.
* I would like to set a "screen timeout" in IpBike, not just on. I set a specific "phone profile"(Llama), but I forget to change back afterwards occasionally.

* The TS log has many duplicate records, where everything except time is changed. I.e. position/distance is the same even if speed is not 0. This is likely the update rate in the device itself that is less than 1s. However, it is hard to guess this after (the speed track is not available in SportTracks). Not a major loss to remove identical points, still something I rather see when recording.

* The GPS has occasional bad spikes, like when exiting tunnels. There should be a speed filter that drops bad points exceeding bad points for a limited time. Could be related to equipment or workout. For instance drop points if speed is > 30 km/h for max 10 s.

* Color coded trending for fields, to see how you relate to a specific target (configured or another field). For instance, to run a marathon in 3:30, your average must be 4:59 /km. If total average and km average is displayed and related to 4:59, you would get green if close, red if you are faster and blue if you are slower. If the km average is related to the total average, similar. The gradient colors may require configuration too...
Trending plot, similar to coloring fields is possible, but progressive time, do not know if it will useful.

* Diff time , a plot graph comparing time/distance ahead/behind the average in every point is interesting.
Explanation:
https://code.google.com/p/trails/wiki/Features#Differences
Example of graph here:
http://web.comhem.se/gerhardo/st/StlmMara2014.jpg
That graph has grade adjusted pace as a reference, not a part here.

* I suggest to rename bike to equipment (group)

* For new users, when starting first time: Setup wizard to set main type of activity, sensors, suggest workout, equipment.

* Sensor fusion to use Accelerometer/Gyroscope to display alternative speed. I have not tested the Android API for this, but at least Moves app uses it.
* Sensors assist GPS (not wheel sensors) for "normal" speed/distance.

Any chanche to have a Windows with histogram bars of the distribution of heart rate...cadence..power etc?

Not going to think about histograms before the UI re-write gets out. Even then it's a post ride feature that there are plenty of web sites covering. My emphasis is always really on the while riding features.

yes, probably you are right

when would be implemented the new UI?

Just installed last night, and very impressed after my first ride using it this morning.

Off the top of my head, a few enhancements that would tick all my boxes (and IPbike is the closest to ticking them so far):

1. Integrate with My Fitness Pal so that calories from ride are uploaded. I can get there via Strava, but this puts its own calorie estimate in rather than IPBike's - and I frankly have more faith in IPBike's, particularly given the available tweaks

2. Would love integration with Android Wear, my Sony Smartwatch 3 is very jealous of the original Sony Smartwatch support ;-)

3. Just saw this today from the OS - http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/about/news/2015/four-new-os-open-data-products.html - Wonder if that's a viable map source? Only read a little bit, so not sure if it adds value over what you already support.

Sorry for whining for more after less than a day of using it! For the record I'll be buying tonight unless something goes very horribly wrong with tracking my journey home.

suggest to have better UI, e.g....circular dial display for speed and cadence....etc...like in the car. with colorful sections...
