My rear powertap hub delivers power, cadence and magnetic speed data.
My comment now belongs to the speed data.
With the magnetic (wheel rotation) speed data I have exact speed information in Ipbike. I think more exact than GPS speed.
I have the problem with the average speed value when I upload to Strava.
I think Strava analyses not my magnetic, but my GPS speed data!
This is the big problem. For example if I stand at traffic light, my magnetic speed is zero and Ipbike calculates with my zero speed. This is OK.
But Strava calculates my GPS speed and if I stand at traffic light, my GPS speed could be 0.7, 0.8, 1.2, 0.3 ....etc.
NOT ZERO! For 1 minute my average speed drops in Strava dramatically!
MY WISH: to have a setting solution in IPbike, if my GPS speed falls below 1-2 mph, then please zero my GPS speed!
In my old Garmin Edge 500 exists this feature.

+1 For basic navigation (I mean alert when distance from current position and nearest point on loaded route is greater than some value).
I don't think this would be too hard to implement:
- spatial index for route points is needed (probably you already have one for rendering purposes)
- We load all route points in a given rectangle (using spatial index). If there is no such points, we increase rectangle size and repeat or if max rectangle size is already achieved then ALERT you are lost :-)
- For points that are found in previous step - find the nearest one. Here we can assume, that we are traveling along path and that best candidate is >= from previous nearest point
- Calculate distance between current position and nearest found point and ALERT if distance greater than allowed.
- We could also calculate (using vectors) on which side of route is current position and could alert LEFT or RIGHT

I believe that that is all that would be needed for a lot of folks.

And one stupid question: How can one unload the route?

best regards and thank you for amazing app

- Support for Strava Live segments would be *amazing*, any chance of this?

- A notification/alert when sensor voltage drops below a certain threshold. I did a ride Saturday and had good power data for the whole ride so didn't think anything of it. 3 days later I went out and had no power at all. Looking in IpSensorMan I see that it was reporting battery as critical and voltage as 2.1V from the last session. But I wouldn't know this unless I went into IpSensorMan each ride. Had I known in advance I would have swapped the battery before the ride, instead I have a workout with no power data.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but basic support for intents or shortcuts (e.g. start/stop sensors, start/pause/stop recording, upload) would be nice to have. IpBike would be easier to integrate with other apps like Tasker, Automate, NFC Tasks, etc.

For example, I am setting up a NFC tag on my handlebar phone mount. When I place the smartphone in the mount, NFC Tasks detects the tag and runs a task that:
-disables the anti-theft alarm
-activates speakerphone for hands-free calls
-sets the display orientation to landscape
-sets the display mode to Immersive to hide statusbar and navbar
-sets a fixed brightness
-and finally opens IpBike

This saves me from doing all these things by hand on every ride. But I still have to connect to sensors and start the ride by hand. If IpBike had shortcuts or intents for those actions, it could be fully automated.

Pretty sure I've mentioned this before, but I find the lock option inadequate, particularly on rainy, or sweaty days. While IPBike won't interact with any water drops on the phone, other capacitive buttons like the home or back buttons function just find, exiting IPBike mid ride. Basically have to shut down the app at this point. Because it'll constantly just switch to the phone's home screen.

Also ... not sure if this is already there, but a way to suppress notifications that go over the screen would also help.

And a search function for the forum!

Hi,
first of all - IpBike is already brilliant :)
if i could have some improvements, it would be GPX profile tracing - i mean - i would like to see how much pain i will suffer before top of the hill ... :)

Hi,

Your App is still the best to ride with !

I would like to use the feature "Slope" when I ride.
I believe that this data is calculated from the GPS position. I've tried it and I find that the reliability is not very good… maybe because of the poor GPS sensor of the smartphone. The advantage is that it's independant from the phone orientation. But on my bike, my phone is firmly attached.
I'd like to have a instant data reading.
Would it be possible to use the incline data from the smartphone sensor like those apps which uses it to simulate a bubble level ?
And add a long press on it to calibrate it to zero after locking the phone on the bike (as you have done for the speed data to switch km/h to m/km).

Thank you
